What we’re building together
A thermo-electric storage system that makes both heat and electricity available at the right moment. It brings three technologies together in one integrated solution:
✔️ An industrial heat pump with a large temperature lift
✔️ Thermal storage in water at high temperatures (95°C)
✔️ Electrical storage based on sodium-ion technology
A smart energy management system runs it all, continuously balancing energy demand, available energy and grid capacity. The result: more flexibility, manageable energy costs, and less pressure on the electricity grid.
Part of a national innovation project
This collaboration is part of RenewaFLEXNL, a multi-year innovation project coordinated by TNO and supported by a grant from RVO. Seventeen partners from across the energy chain, including Vattenfall, TenneT and Alliander, are working together to develop and apply energy storage in the Netherlands.
A leading example for horticulture
Few sectors understand smart energy optimisation like horticulture. As an agritech pioneer, HilverdaFlorist shows how thermo-electric storage works in practice; a first sustainable and affordable step toward a fossil-free energy system, with real attention to practical use and short payback times.
BB-One is taking this approach beyond borders. As the company grows internationally, projects like this set the standard for what sustainable energy looks like in practice.
